Changes to plumbing and electrical qualifications in TAS

20 April, 2017

The Tasmanian Traineeships and Apprenticeships Committee (TTAC) has now included plumbing and electrical qualifications under their Competency-based Completion Guidelines.

Competency-based qualifications allow the apprentice to complete at any stage as long as all parties agree that the required skills (competencies) have been achieved.

Competency-based completion of traineeships and apprenticeships was introduced in Tasmania in 2006 and originally excluded plumbing and electrical qualifications. The exclusions have now been removed as a result of changes to the Plumbing and Fire Sprinklers Award 2010 and introduction of the Occupational Licensing (Electrical Work Licence Classes) Determination 2016.
