MEGT will deliver Industry Pilots for Youth Jobs PaTH candidates

4 May, 2022

MEGT is pleased to announce that we’ve been named one of the nine organisations that will deliver industry-led employment pathways for school leavers and unemployed youth between the ages of 15-24.
The MEGT “Future Work” PaTH ICT Industry Pilot (the Pilot) is aiming to fill 500 ICT jobs with young job seekers. The Pilot will help them gain the knowledge and credentials to enable them to secure a job in the ICT industry, helping to address the looming skills shortage in the sector. In a nutshell, we are making them job-ready!

What is the purpose of industry pilots?

The industry pilots are aiming to get our kids into work! The Australian Government has made available $10 million for up to 10 industry pilots. The government has awarded the industry pilots to the nine organisations that have designed programs that meet employer needs. Young job seekers will receive a customised pathway to make sure they have job readiness and can meet the skills requirements of employers.

According to Senator the Hon Michaelia Cash, Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business, “The Government is delivering on creating more employment pathways to real jobs for young people,” Minister Cash said. “The $10 million Youth Jobs PaTH industry pilots will equip young people with the training and experience they need to walk directly into jobs where we know there is demand for more workers."

This program will feed into our existing Microsoft Traineeship Program and our Cyber Security Program as well as provide job-ready youth for vacancies within other organisations in the ICT sector.
