Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeships 

Are you mechanically minded?

Become a fitter and turner, toolmaker, metal worker, or boilermaker. 

Gain the hands-on skills you need to work to quality standards in a manufacturing or engineering environment. You’ll learn about undertaking fitting, assembly, manufacture, installation, modification, testing, fault finding, maintenance and service of mechanical equipment and the use of machine tools.

Fabrication Apprenticeships - Certificate III Engineering - Fabrication (MEM30305)

Do enjoy welding?  Troubleshooting?  This could be the trade for you!

As a Fabricating apprentice you will:

  • Examine and understand detailed drawings and specifications to determine the requirements for the task
  • Cut, roll, shape, heat, or hammer metal products to produce parts.
  • You will use hand and machine tools, welding equipment, and CNC machines.
  • Be trained in various techniques which include welding, bolting, and riveting to align, assemble, and fix pieces together to create parts and structures.
  • Add finishing touches to products in the form of cleaning, polishing, filing, and adding protective or decorative finishes.  

You'll be learning practically. You'll be solving real problems on site and be working as part of a team or individually to fix them

About you:

  • Mechanically minded
  • Previous experience working with hand tools
  • Interest in metal work
  • Enjoy problem solving
  • Motivated and adaptable, with a desire to learn both within a workshop and classroom environment
  • A team player who is reliable and trustworthy with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work full time hours (approx. 38 hours per week)
  • Drivers licence and own vehicle 

These positions will provide paid training and employment experience to achieve the nationally recognised Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (MEM30219) or Certificate III Engineering - Fabrication (MEM30305).
