Vehicle Body Building Apprentice

Job ID: 31306 Automotive Institute of Technology

The Automotive Institute of Technology (MTA WA) have a number of positions for Vehicle Body Building Apprentices in the Perth Metro area. Vehicle body builders manufacture purpose built vehicles from engineering plans. They manufacture purpose-built bodies for buses, coaches, horse floats, ambulances, and other vehicles. They construct complex frameworks which are then welded, glued and bolted to the vehicle's chassis. These specialist panels are shaped from materials such as metal, aluminium and reinforced plastic using equipment such as a guillotine. Once the vehicle's framework is completed they fit axles, suspension, brakes, handles, locks, hinges, hydraulics and pneumatic systems.

As a vehicle body builder you will learn to work with an array of workshop tools including welding, cutting and shaping machinery.  You will be working on larger equipment which will offer a challenging and rewarding environment in which to learn your trade.  Applicants must live within local proximity of the advised locations.

You will be supported throughout your apprenticeship by a team of experts to ensure you complete your training under their guidance.

A drivers licence would be essential, applicants who have some prior industry exposure or have obtained an associated pre-apprenticeship (Certificate II) would be highly desirable.

If you wish to apply, please attach a resume and cover letter outlining why you would be the perfect candidate.

To be eligible for an apprenticeship or traineeship you must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or have full working rights.
