Paying apprentice or trainee wages? You don't want to miss this.

19 April, 2017

Did you know – in WA, wages paid to apprentices and trainees are exempt from payroll tax.

If you and your apprentice or trainee meet the eligibility criteria, all wages – including superannuation, allowances and fringe benefits – will be exempt from payroll tax.

This could represent a saving of 5.5% payroll tax over the life of their apprenticeship or traineeship!

Qualifying for the exemption is as simple as 1, 2, MEGT:

  1. Employ a new apprentice or trainee or nominate an existing employee for an apprenticeship or traineeship (excluding probationers)
  2. Contact us today so we can sign up your apprentice or trainee
  3. Leave the rest to us! We’ll register their Training Contract with the WA State Training Authority so you can claim your exemption

The best bit?

You may also be eligible for further Government financial incentives when you sign up an apprentice or trainee.
