Childcare students get hands-on learning at MEGT Institute

7 February, 2017

At MEGT Institute, we provide our Early Childhood Education and Care students with practical, hands-on learning.

As part of their first unit, our students learn how to provide appropriate care for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers.

We model caring and nurturing practices, teaching our students how to:

  • Bathe babies in a childcare setting
  • Prepare bottles according to age and formula requirements
  • Change nappies
  • Feed babies

Our students learn how to perform each of these tasks in a way that is safe and positive for the babies as well as for our students, and in line with Australian Government regulations and standards.

This practical training gives our students an opportunity to gain confidence before they attend their practicum experience in a childcare centre.
