Job outcomes on the rise for VET graduates

18 December, 2023

Almost 80% of Vocational Education and Training (VET) graduates were employed at the completion of training in 2023, the highest number since surveys began in 2016.

The VET Student Outcomes Report, released by the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER), also found two-thirds of students who completed a VET qualification at certificate I level or above had an improved employment outcome in 2022.

More than half the graduates who did not have a job before training were employed after, and more than a third of those who had a job before moved on to better employment. Almost 90% would recommend their training provider to others.

The survey measured outcomes and satisfaction levels of students who completed nationally-recognised VET courses delivered by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) during 2022.

It reinforces findings by Jobs and Skills Australia that just over 60% of total employment growth in 2022 was in occupations where VET qualifications are the primary pathway.
