CITB’s Additional Apprentice Incentives funding in SA

7 November, 2019

In construction and want to be partially funded for the cost of your apprentice?

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Additional Apprentice Incentive funding is part of the Skilling South Australia (SA) project that aims to create additional apprenticeships in construction in SA. The incentive offers support and on-the-job training to first-year apprentices to ensure they complete their qualification, leading to an increase in the number of skilled construction workers in SA.

Under this new funding incentive, employers may be eligible for 2 separate funding options:

    • In-Demand Qualifications Incentive

If your apprentice enrols in one of the in-demand qualifications, you will receive a maximum of $2,500 per eligible apprentice

    • The Equity Group Incentive

You will receive a once-off $500 payment if your apprentice meets at least one of the following criteria:

    1. New Employers – your business has not registered an apprentice with CITB in the past four years
    2. Female
    3. Regional – your apprentice lives 100km outside of the Adelaide GPO
    4. Long Term Unemployed – the apprentice has not received any income for 12 months or longer (excluding government benefits)

There is no better time to sign up your construction apprentice and start building your skilled workforce for 2020. This incentive is valid from 1 October 2019 and finishes on 28 February 2020 or while funding lasts.
