Engineering Apprentice (Fitter)

We currently have an opportunity for a Tradesperson with a Mechanical background to undertake a Maintenance Fitter Apprenticeship.

You will be joining the team at our production site in Enfield, Sydney. This is an excellent opportunity to build on your current skill set and build a career within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Inspect, maintain, monitor, troubleshoot and repair all equipment as required.
  • Implement isolations as required to conduct maintenance and repairs
  • Timely response to all breakdown calls during the shift, use high-level fault-finding skills to evaluate the cause of the breakdown and implement the best solution to rectify the breakdown.
  • Make adjustments to ensure smooth operation of equipment and machinery.
  • Partake in daily job changes.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance tasks including but not limited to lubrication, inspections, testing, equipment exchange and overhaul.
  • Repair plant and ancillary equipment to standard quality requirement.
  • Use the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), currently Mex to record history, book hours, spares usage and close out work orders and record all machine anomalies to the engineering department.
  • Preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Carry out minor electrical tasks i.e. disconnects - reconnects, resets, etc. in line with relevant electrical qualifications, if applicable.

About you:

  • Completing Mature Age Apprenticeship - Maintenance Fitter
  • Fitter and Turner Qualification
  • Restricted Electrical licence (Desirable)
  • Experience in maintaining Feed Milling and Flour Milling equipment, Food manufacturing environment, or FMCG.
  • Strong communication skills with an all-inclusive approach to dealing with both peers and operations personnel at all levels in the business.
  • Experience using CMMS.
  • Pneumatic transfer systems.
  • Fabrication in a processing environment.
  • Confined space training and experience.
