We are looking for two Apprentice Chefs to join our busy Melrose Events Kitchen team.

Our kitchen works at a fast pace being a busy events and function centre and work schedules will include mainly weekends including evenings. We can often have up-to 1000 guests across one of our three events spaces on any busy Friday and Saturday evening.

You will need to be passionate about food, career driven and a team player.  

Training for an apprentice cook covers basic culinary skills, knife skills, knowledge of ingredients, use of commercial equipment and kitchen procedures. 

Your main duties include but not limited to: 

  • Assisting the Head Chef and kitchen team in the preparation and cooking of meals. 
  • Training to learn procedures and duties in food preparation. 
  • Working under the supervision of the chef. 
  • Operating commercial cooking equipment such as mixers, steamers, fryers, ovens and stoves. 
  • Serves food when required. 
  • Kitchen cleaning, such as dish washing and equipment cleaning, sanitation. 
  • Assists in other areas of food preparation and storage.
