MEGT People and Culture - Staff Payroll Officer

OBJECTIVES OF THE DIVISION

The People & Culture Division provides advice and service relating to the management and effectiveness of staff, apprentices and trainees employed by MEGT.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This is a key role within MEGT (Australia) Ltd.  The primary focus of this role will be to assist with payroll processing and the administration functions relating to Return to Work and WorkCover.


 

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reporting to the Staff Payroll Manager.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with the People & Culture team to assist with their administrative functions.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a diverse team.

  • Good attention to detail with an analytical approach, able to manage processes and analyse and evaluate available data and information.

  • Proven payroll experience preferably using Aurion or an equivalent HR and Payroll Information System (HRIS).

  • Experience using Quicksafe or an equivalent WHS software solution.

  • Good understanding of payroll and HR legislation and processes.

  • Good organisational and time management skills.

  • Ability to deal with sensitive information in a mature and confidential manner, acting with trust and integrity always.


 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Good customer service skills, demonstrating a mature and professional approach to monitoring and meeting customer needs and expectations.

  • Ensure that all data and information is held securely, respecting strict confidentiality at all times.

  • Computer literate and experienced with the Microsoft suite.

  • Experience with Aurion or an equivalent HR and Payroll Information System (HRIS).

  • An understanding of payroll and HR legislation and processes (interpreting the MEGT Staff Enterprise Agreement, superannuation, ATO guidelines).

  • Accurate and efficient data entry skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to organise and prioritise and balance short- and long-term considerations with excellent time management skills.

  • Self-motivated with initiative and the capacity to work autonomously when required.

  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a team environment and establish positive relationships with internal stakeholders.  

  • Committed to continuous improvement and receptive to change.


 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the preparation and processing of weekly/fortnightly payrolls.

  • Assist with end of month and end of year payroll processes.

  • Provide advice to staff on HR and payroll issues accurately and efficiently.

  • Assist with administration functions relating to Return to Work and WorkCover including the approval and payment of claims as well as accurate, reliable and secure data entry into Quicksafe.

  • Coordinate staff probations and end of contracts, analysing and evaluating the process to make recommendations for continuous improvement activities.

  • Assist with other payroll and administrative duties within the People & Culture team as required.

  • Manage office equipment (such as printer and shredder), stationery (including ordering), mail and filing for the Division.

  • Undertake continuous professional development activities by engaging with the MEGT Performance Appraisal and Development Program.

  • Meeting set deadlines in payroll processing, recognising and managing any resource constraints.

  • Accurate, timely and secure data entry into Aurion and Quicksafe.
