Island Leaf and Lawn is an established local garden maintenance business, offering premium horticultural and garden maintenance services across Phillip Island. Our mission at Island Leaf and Lawn is to provide our clients with the highest quality service and a holistic approach to their garden care.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Certificate III Parks & Gardens apprenticeship for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual.
In this role you will be responsible for helping to maintain the lawns and gardens of our clients, including but not limited to:
- Identifying and treating weeds, pests and diseases
- Operating horticultural machinery including chainsaws, hedgers, pole saws, whipper snippers and mowers.
- Mulching gardens as required.
- Pruning – both regular and seasonal
- Hedge trimming.
- Lawn mowing and edging.
- Working in a safe manner in accordance with WHS processes
- Any and all other tasks related to high quality garden maintenance.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Hold a current Victorian Driver’s License
- Have a genuine desire to work outdoors in both warm and cool climates
- Confidently be able to carry out work of a physical nature
- Commit to and create good relationships within a team focused environment
- Be an open learner who is willing to follow instructions and develop skills
- Friendly disposition and an eye for detail
- Commit to both on the job and off the job formal training
- Great communication and time management skills
- A desire to successfully complete a horticultural trade qualification (Cert III Parks & Garden).
A current driver’s license and current police check are mandatory requirements for this position.
What to Expect:
You will be required to work Monday to Friday (including 1 day at trade school) within a friendly and supportive team.
As an apprentice of Island Leaf & Lawn you will be a valued employee, provided with an experienced gardener or head horticulturist to support, assist and encourage you in developing a long-term career in this industry.
