MEGT and Workways Australia recently welcomed Federal Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, the Hon Amanda Rishworth MP, and Federal Member for Griffith, Renee Coffey MP, to the Workways Australia Stones Corner site in Brisbane.

The visit provided an opportunity to demonstrate how MEGT and Workways Australia are working together to support jobseekers re‑enter the workforce through innovation and genuinely integrated service delivery. This included a demonstration of the Car2Bus initiative and pre‑employment training.

During the visit, Minister Rishworth and Ms Coffey toured the site and experienced MEGT and Workways Australia’s Virtual Reality (VR) programs firsthand, which are designed to help jobseekers build confidence, develop job‑ready skills and better prepare for employment opportunities.

Listening to lived experience

The visit concluded with a roundtable discussion involving local employers and jobseekers, offering valuable insights into lived experience, outcomes on the ground, and opportunities to strengthen employment services.

The discussion provided an important forum for participants to share what is working well, where challenges remain, and how services can continue to evolve to better support individuals and employers.

Why integration matters

A key theme from the discussion was the importance of integrated services, particularly the alignment of Australian Apprenticeship Support Services with Workforce Australia.

By reducing complexity and better aligning support, MEGT and Workways Australia are helping to deliver stronger, more sustainable outcomes for jobseekers, while supporting employers to build capable and productive workforces.
