MEGT is proud to be skilling Queensland’s laboratory technician workforce. Lab Skills is a 15-week program in South Brisbane, designed to equip Queenslanders with the knowledge, skills and hands-on training that leads to a fulfilling STEM career.

About LabSkills

Gain a nationally recognised qualification, hands-on lab experience, personalised support, employer connections and a direct pathway into a STEM career. 

Throughout the program, participants will: 

  • undertake a Certificate III in Laboratory Skills
  • gain practical skills in sample preparation, testing procedures, equipment operation & laboratory safety
  • train in a simulated laboratory, building confidence and work-ready skills
  • be supported by a team of experienced supervisors and mentors
  • make connections with potential employers in the health, pathology, construction materials, manufacturing & food safety sectors 

Once the LabSkills program is completed, MEGT will support participants into an apprenticeship or employment. Possible career pathways include working in construction materials testing, environmental testing, pathology and health laboratories or manufacturing and food safety.

Laying the foundation for a career in resources

LabSkills participants undertake the MSL30122 Certificate III in Laboratory Skills with LTT Group Pty Ltd (Code 51621), the program's Registered Training Organisation partner.

This qualification equips students with practical skills in planning and conducting laboratory field work, recording and presenting data, performing basic tests and standard calibrations, maintaining a laboratory and more.
