Refrigeration Technician - Industrial Manufacturing / Explosion-Proof HVAC

MEGT have a vacancy for a certified Refrigeration Technician to partner with a specialist Australian manufacturer producing explosion-proof HVAC systems for highly regulated industrial environments such as the mining and petro-chemical sectors. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Refrigeration Technician to join our manufacturing team. Site-based in Melbourne's northern suburbs.

This is a factory-based role working on specialised HVAC products within a controlled manufacturing environment - no field service or customer site work required.

About the Role

Working within the refrigeration assembly team, you will be responsible for the handling, testing and commissioning of refrigeration systems used within explosion-proof HVAC equipment.

You will play a key role in refrigerant charging, leak testing, de-gassing and final product testing to ensure all systems meet strict safety and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform refrigerant charging and de-gassing of HVAC systems
  • Conduct pressure testing and leak testing
  • Ensure refrigeration systems are operating correctly prior to sign-off
  • Handle refrigerants safely and in accordance with regulations
  • Support assembly and testing of specialised HVAC products
  • Maintain compliance with safety procedures and industry standards
  • Work collaboratively with the production and engineering teams
  • Support and supervise apprentices as required

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current Refrigerant Handling Licence / ARCtick Licence
  • Trade qualification in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
  • Experience working with refrigeration systems and refrigerants
  • Strong understanding of refrigeration safety and compliance requirements
  • Ability to work within a manufacturing or workshop environment
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and within a team

Desirable but not essential:

  • Experience with industrial HVAC systems
  • Exposure to regulated or compliance-focused industries
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring apprentices
