Kick-start Your Career as a First Nations Library Assistant Trainee

Are you an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person looking to build a meaningful career while learning on the job? MEGT is proud to partner with one of our clients to offer an exciting Library Assistant Traineeship designed to support First Nations talent and career development.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical experience, earn while you learn, and complete a nationally recognised qualification in a supportive and culturally inclusive environment.

About the Traineeship

This paid 12-month traineeship will give you hands-on experience in a library and administration environment while developing valuable workplace and customer service skills.

In this role, you will learn to:

  • Provide day-to-day library and administration support
  • Assist visitors and community members with friendly customer service
  • Answer phone and email enquiries
  • Support library programs, events, and daily operations
  • Perform data entry, filing, scanning, photocopying, and document preparation
  • Help maintain organised library spaces and resources
  • Work collaboratively with staff and community members in a welcoming environment

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • Reliable, motivated, and eager to learn new skills
  • Friendly and respectful with a positive attitude
  • Interested in working with people and supporting the community
  • Able to work well in a team and independently
  • Organised and willing to take initiative
  • Comfortable using computers or willing to learn

No previous experience is required - full training and support will be provided.
