Future1st is offering an exciting opportunity to join a well-established nursery as a Nursery Hand Trainee, where you’ll gain hands-on experience while completing a nationally recognised Certificate III in Horticulture (12–18 months).

About the Role

Step into the horticulture industry as a full-time trainee, working across three nursery sites that specialise in both potted plant production and in-ground growing.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll be involved in all aspects of nursery operations from plant production through to dispatch while developing practical skills that set you up for a long-term career.

Working Hours: Full Time With Early Start

Key Responsibilities

Plant Production & Nursery Work

  • Potting, planting, spacing, pruning, and general plant maintenance
  • Watering plants and assisting with fertilising and pest/disease control
  • Monitoring plant health and reporting any issues
  • Moving and organising plants for growth and preparation

Dispatch & Order Preparation

  • Picking plant orders accurately from nursery stock
  • Preparing and packing orders for delivery
  • Labelling and checking stock for quality and presentation
  • Assisting with loading plants for transport

General Nursery Duties

  • Maintaining clean and organised work areas
  • Supporting different teams across production and dispatch
  • Operating nursery tools and equipment safely (training provided)
  • Assisting with seasonal work, including in-ground growing activities

What We’re Looking For

  • Must be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen / Permanent Resident
  • Manual Driver’s licence and reliable transport (required due to multiple sites)
  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual, repetitive tasks
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Willing to Complete a cert III in horticulture whilst working full time
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality
  • Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
