About Us

JWBS is a respected, medium‑sized construction company established in 1988. With more than 30 skilled staff, we deliver high‑quality residential and commercial projects ranging from $10K to $5M — including new apartment builds, architecturally designed renovations, extensions, and nationwide commercial fit‑outs.

We’re proud of our supportive and inclusive culture, strong team relationships, and our commitment to developing the next generation of tradespeople and creating opportunities for a more diverse workforce. As such, we welcome applicants from all backgrounds as we are keen to see more women building successful careers within our industry.

About the Role

We’re seeking a motivated Adult Apprentice Carpenter to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in entering the building and construction industry, learning hands-on skills, and being supported by experienced mentors who value diversity and fresh perspectives.

You’ll work alongside skilled tradespeople, gain practical experience, and be encouraged as you grow your confidence and capability on site.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Assisting qualified carpenters with a variety of construction tasks
  • Learning and applying carpentry techniques as you progress through your apprenticeship
  • Measuring, cutting, and assembling materials under supervision
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and organised work environment
  • Following guidance from the Site Supervisor or Lead Carpenter
  • Working collaboratively with team members, subcontractors, and project staff

What Helps You Succeed

  • Completion of Year 10 (minimum)
  • At least 12 months of work experience (any industry)
  • Current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong work ethic
  • Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team
  • Good communication and numeracy skills
  • Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work

Preferred (but not essential)

  • Pre-apprenticeship or trade-related training
  • Exposure to carpentry, building, or construction
  • Construction Industry Induction (White Card)

What You’ll Gain

  • Supportive, on-the-job training from experienced carpenters
  • The opportunity to complete your trade qualification while earning
  • Exposure to a wide range of building and construction projects and techniques
  • A welcoming team environment that values diversity and encourages all people to thrive in the trades
  • A pathway to a long-term, rewarding career as a skilled tradesperson.

Why You Will Thrive Here

  • A respectful, inclusive team culture
  • Mentors who genuinely enjoy teaching and supporting new apprentices
  • Opportunities to grow your confidence and take on responsibility at your own pace
  • A workplace that values different perspectives and strengths

If you’re ready to start a hands-on, meaningful career in carpentry, we’d love to hear from you.
