Apprentice Chef – Port City Bowling Club
Port City Bowling Club is seeking a motivated Apprentice Chef to join our busy and dynamic kitchen team.
Our kitchen operates at a fast pace, and the successful applicant must be available to work a rotating roster, including weekends.
With two distinct dining venues—a relaxed casual bistro and an upmarket steakhouse, You’ll gain hands‑on experience across a wide variety of culinary operations. Combined with our expanding functions and events department, this role offers an excellent opportunity for growth, skill development, and diverse industry experience for someone eager to learn.

What You’ll Learn
As an apprentice at Port City Bowling Club, your training will cover:
- Basic culinary techniques
- Knife handling and food preparation skills
- Ingredient knowledge
- Safe use of commercial kitchen equipment
- Professional kitchen procedures and workflows
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting chefs with meal preparation and cooking
- Learning and following kitchen procedures
- Working under the supervision and guidance of senior chefs
- Operating commercial equipment such as mixers, steamers, fryers, ovens, and stoves
- Maintaining cleanliness across the kitchen, including dishwashing, sanitation, and equipment care
- Supporting other areas of food preparation and storage
Eligibility
To be eligible for an apprenticeship or traineeship, you must be:
- An Australian Citizen,
- A Permanent Resident, or
- Have full work rights.
