Getting ready for your sign-up appointment
An MEGT team member will visit your workplace to sign up your apprentice or trainee into a Training Contract. This is a face-to-face meeting which you and your apprentice or trainee must attend. The Training Contract is a legally binding document that outlines the responsibilities of both the employer and apprentice, and the nationally recognised qualification to be achieved.
If you've had limited or no experience in employing apprentices or trainees in the workplace, or have fewer than five employees, MEGT may also complete a 'Get Ready Check' with you prior to the sign-up appointment to advise you of additional supports available.
We will also send your apprentice or trainee information about the sign-up appointment and where they can go for support throughout their apprenticeship. You can see what your apprentice or trainee needs to do before their sign-up appointment on our Pre sign-up apprentice information page.
IMPORTANT | If your apprentice or trainee is under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian should also be present as the Training Contract cannot be registered with the relevant State Training Authority until parent consent is obtained.
Financial incentives for employers
Your business may be eligible for Federal Government payments and benefits.
These include:
- Priority Hiring Incentive
- Disability Australian Apprentice Wage Support (DAAWS)
- The Group Training Organisation (GTO) Reimbursement Program
The easiest way to see what support you might be eligible for is to view our guide to financial incentives for employers.
You can also visit apprenticeships.gov.au and use the Employer Incentives Explorer tool.
Get ready to claim eligible employer payments
You will need to create a Digital ID using myID to claim eligible employer payments in the Apprenticeships Data Management System (ADMS). ADMS is a secure platform which supports the delivery of the Australian Apprenticeship program.

Visit our ADMS for employers page to find out how to set up your ADMS account.
