3rd and 4th Year Apprentice Plumber – Diagnostics and Fault finding, Replacements & Upgrades

Full Time | 10:00am–6:00pm | Structured Workflow | Career Growth

CheckHero is expanding and launching a specialist Repairs & Upgrades Division, and we’re looking for 3rd and 4th year plumbing apprentices who want to build strong, real-world skills in gas diagnostics, leak detection, and appliance repairs — not just basic install work.

This is an ideal role for apprentices who want to fast-track their gas experience and develop into highly skilled technicians.

The Role

You’ll work alongside experienced technicians focusing on:

  • Gas leak detection & pressure testing
  • Fault finding & diagnostics on gas systems
  • Appliance repairs (heaters, hot water, cooktops)
  • Identifying and rectifying compliance issues
  • Assisting with appliance replacements and upgrades

This is hands-on, technical work where you’ll learn how to diagnose problems — not just install and leave.

Why Join CheckHero?

  • Specialised training in gas diagnostics & fault finding
  • Move beyond basic plumbing into high-skill technical work
  • Structured systems and workflow (no chaos jobs)
  • Growing division with real career progression

Training & Development

You don’t need to be an expert — that’s what we’ll teach you.

We provide structured training in:

  • Gas leak detection techniques
  • System diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Appliance fault finding and repairs
  • Compliance and safety standards

If you’ve got solid fundamentals and the right attitude, we’ll build the rest.

About You

We’re specifically looking for:

  • 3rd or 4th year plumbing apprentices
  • Strong interest in gas work and technical problem solving
  • Wanting to move beyond basic install work
  • Keen to learn diagnostics and fault finding

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong work ethic & reliability
  • Willingness to learn and take direction
  • Good communication skills
  • Professional presentation
  • Ability to follow structured systems

Confidence comes with experience — attitude is key.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay (above award for the right candidate)
  • Company van, fuel card & tools provided
  • 10:00am–6:00pm site hours (with occasional overtime)
  • Consistent, reliable workflow
  • Ongoing technical training
  • Clear pathway into qualified gas technician roles

Industry Outlook

Looking ahead to March 2027, rental properties will increasingly require:

  • Heat pump hot water systems
  • Electric heating upgrades
  • Gas appliances replaced at end of life (cooktops currently exempt)

This creates long-term demand for skilled technicians who understand both gas systems and evolving compliance requirements.

Join at the Right Time

As this division grows, early team members benefit from:

  • Fast-tracked skill development
  • Exposure to complex diagnostic work
  • Career progression opportunities
  • Long-term job stability in a compliance-driven industry

If you want to become more than just a basic plumber and build real technical skills in gas and diagnostics, this is the role for you.
