Congratulations to MEGT Institute student Rebecca Rossiter, recently named as a finalist in the Trainee of the Year category at the 2015 Tasmanian Training Awards.

Working at the Mantra Hotel Charles in Launceston, Rebecca is studying the Certificate III in Hospitality with MEGT Institute.

Through self-paced study whilst working, Rebecca has been able to put her learning directly into practice whilst getting advice and support from her colleagues. Alongside the more practical aspects of training, communication (especially non-verbal communication) has been a great learning experience, giving Rebecca much more confidence when interacting with people from all over the world.

Rebecca comments, “It is challenging yet rewarding to work in a busy hotel such as this one. I love meeting new people every day and am passionate about providing quality service and great outcomes for every guest I interact with.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my training and have gained hugely in skills and confidence through both my studies and being able to work across different teams and departments. I am excited about my career pathway within the industry and look forward to developing my skills further.”

Through the process Rebecca says she has become much more interested in domestic and international news as it often creates opportunities for conversation with guests. She has also developed a love of learning more about different cultures, their food, customs and way of life and has been inspired to travel and experience them first hand.
