NCVER report shows high employment outcomes for apprentices and trainees

26 March, 2024

A recent report from the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) indicates that the employment rate for apprentices and trainees who completed their training in a trade occupation was 95.6%. For those who completed training in non-trade occupations, the employment rate was 89.7%.

The report, Apprentice and trainee outcomes 2023, highlights that the main reasons for undertaking an apprenticeship or traineeship were to ‘work in that type of job’ and ‘to gain a recognised qualification or certificate.’

When it comes to satisfaction with the training, trade completers reported high levels of satisfaction with the skills learnt during both on the job (91.4%) and off the job training (86.4%). Non-trade completers also reported high levels of satisfaction with the skills learnt on the job (88.9%) and off the job (88.3%).

The figures are derived from the 2023 National Student Outcomes Survey and you can read the full Apprentices and trainee outcomes 2023 report here.
