Join MEGT as a Light Vehicle Mechanical Technician Apprentice

Are you a motivated and reliable individual looking for a career in the Automotive Industry? MEGT has a fantastic opportunity with one of our clients for an Apprentice in Mornington TAS.

About the role:

This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to develop practical skills and gain hands-on experience. Your duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Assist with preventative, routine, and scheduled maintenance on vehicles, plant, and equipment under supervision.
  • Support fault diagnosis, repair work, and technical inspections while learning to assess parts and materials.
  • Help with welding, fabrication, and safe operation of council vehicles and mechanical equipment.
  • Contribute to accurate completion of work orders, timesheets, and the management of workshop supplies.
  • Maintain a safe, organised workspace and respond to breakdowns or callouts under guidance.

What we're looking for - Skills & Experience

  • Genuine interest in motor mechanics and a willingness to learn.
  • Basic exposure to mechanical work or vehicle maintenance, with enthusiasm to develop skills in welding, fabrication, and repairs.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and a commitment to safe work practices in a hands-on workshop environment.
  • White Card and driver's licence desirable, or willingness to obtain during the apprenticeship.
