Apprentice Mechanical Field Service Technician
Reporting to: DKIA Service Administration
Location: The position is based in Rowville, Melbourne, Australia
This role is instrumental in helping DKI achieve our strategic direction of growing a sustainable Service business which includes (but not limited to):
- Automation Field Services, Mechanical Field Services
- Engineering Consultancy, DKI Training Academy
- IT Consulting & Services, Industry Consulting Instrumentation Specialist Group (FMC, etc).
The Mechanical Field Service Technician role includes but is not limited to: Meter verifications, Mechanical Field Services – troubleshooting and repairs, Inspection, repair and assistance with Technical Products, Manufacturing assistance with DKI Engineered products, General warehouse duties.
Key Responsibility Areas
A Mechanical Field Service Technician’s prime responsibility is to deliver technical expertise and/or assistance related to DKI’s Service scope of works. Through engagement with customers, a key responsibly is to build a sustainable service sales funnel and to identify pull through business.
The following key responsibility areas are part of the prime responsibility set out above:
- Service Meter verification in accordance with the National Measurement Institute.
- Mechanical Field Services – troubleshooting and repairs of equipment on-site, In-house instrumentation inspection, repair and rectification.
- Technical product QA/QC including inspection, fit out and packing for shipment.
- Manufacturing assistance with DKI Engineered products under the guidance of the Global Manufacturing Manager.
- General warehouse duties, including inwards receipt and dispatch.
- Complete and submit all required paperwork (i.e. work reports).
- Working closely with the projects team to guarantee successful project delivery.
- Building relationships with new and existing customers to develop a sustainable service sales funnel.
- Providing expertise remotely for onsite breakdowns.
- Automation Field Service support and assisting where required.

- Demonstrate through the service and sales funnel, engagement with new and existing customers that results in revenue generation.
- Protect and grow DKI’s relationships with existing customers and develop relationships with new DKI Service customers.
- Provide Service feedback to drive improvement of DKI products and solutions.
The following areas of competencies are required to carry out the work:
- Mechanical minded fitter with a basic understanding of instrumentation.
- Demonstrated capacity and application to successfully deliver services having a multidisciplinary nature including manufacturing, mechanical, electrical and electronic components.
- Relevant experience and certification in Hazardous Area installation and maintenance.
- Positive attitude, with demonstrated team-building skills.
- An ability to prioritize and plan in a pressured environment.
- Astute, commercially focused, results oriented with a "hands on" approach.
