Engineering Apprentice (Fitter / Machinist)
QMW Industries currently have an opportunity for the right person to undertake an apprenticeship as a Fitter / Machinist.
The successful candidate will complete a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade - Fitting / Machining (MEM30219).
As an apprentice at QMW you will work alongside experienced tradespeople to learn the skills required to become a qualified Fitter / Machinist, you will gain experience and be involved in:
- Manual and CNC machine operation including machining centres, lathes, line borers etc.
- Machining, fabricating, fitting parts and sub-assemblies to complete machines and equipment.
- Complete pre-fits and fit outs of various products and components to a variety of vehicles, machines and equipment.
- Checking fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments.
- Stripping, assessing, repairing, assembling and testing mechanical and hydraulic components on mobile equipment and fixed plant in the earthmoving, mining and transport sectors.
- Cutting, threading, bending, and installing hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines.
- Performing routine maintenance and quality checks.
