Electronic Equipment Apprentice
The primary goal of this role is to support senior engineers in designing, installing, and maintaining communication equipment. You will combine "on-the-job" practical training with "off-the-job" academic study to gain a nationally recognised qualification.
As an apprentice, your duties will evolve as your skills grow. Typical tasks include:
- System Installation: Assisting in the setup of communication networks, including fiber optics, satellite links, and radio frequency (RF) equipment.
- Maintenance & Repair: Performing routine checks on hardware to ensure signal integrity and replacing faulty components like transmitters or receivers.
- Circuit Diagnostics: Using specialized tools to test electrical circuits and identify faults in communication lines.
- Technical Documentation: Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Health & Safety: Ensuring all work complies with electrical safety standards and environmental regulations.
- Software Integration: Configuring software systems that manage data flow across networks.
