Everyone’s heard of an electrician, but not many know about HVAC. That means there’s high demand for qualified techs like these. It's a smart career move, with excellent pay and job security. As an Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Apprentice, you’ll learn to maintain and service commercial heating and cooling systems – big, technical equipment in places like hospitals, shopping centres, and large buildings. You’ll work with a friendly team on a variety of tasks and build real skills for life.
A day in the life
You’ll head out with the team each day to different sites around Canberra - shopping centres, hospitals, schools, and office buildings. Some days you’ll be fixing a problem, other days you’ll be making sure everything is running as it should. You’ll be hands-on from the start, learning how the systems work, using tools, and figuring things out alongside people who want to help you learn. It’s active, technical work that keeps you thinking.
About the job
We’re offering full-time apprenticeships with our Canberra team for people ready to kick off their career in HVAC.
You will:
- Learn on the job while completing your Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
- Get to know how large-scale HVAC systems work in real-world environments
- Learn to find and fix faults, read plans, use tools and equipment, and understand electrical components

What you’ll need
- Current Australian working rights (must be able to gain security clearance)
- Finished Year 12 or equivalent
- A valid driver’s licence
- A genuine interest in learning a technical trade
- Good attitude, attention to detail, and strong communication skills
