Our small friendly Early Childhood Education and Care service, Possum Magic Cottage located in Kanwal 2259, is seeking an enthusiastic new person to join our team who is excited to learn and experience becoming an Early Childhood Educator. The position is for a Certificate 3 (if no prior qualification).This position ranges between 12-18 months (duration of the course), with the potential opportunity for ongoing employment following the completion of your studies.

The successful applicant is not required to have prior experience, however strong references (both personal / professional) are highly valued!

You must;

  • Be reliable; Early Childhood Education and care is guided by laws and regulations, that must be adhered to at all times, including the attendance of our educators. We are flexible where needed to support your individual needs, however you must be able to also openly communicate your needs to ensure the safety of our children is maintained. Reliability includes turning up on time and providing adequate notice where issues and situations may arise.
  • Be presentable, professional, punctual and caring; our Educators are valued role models to our children and must support the children in developing positive social skills by modelling positive behaviours and language. You will be required to care for our children so need to have a nurturing and caring attitude towards others (both adults and children) as you will also be working collaboratively with other Educators and families to further support the care of our children.
  • Be willing to learn and implement your knowledge; this role is a stepping stone into becoming an Early Childhood Educator, so you must be willing to work alongside and be guided by our qualified educators to ensure the continuation of high quality education and care for our children. Our service has policies and procedures in place to ensure laws and regulations are followed by all parties of our service, and we engage in a self assessment and quality improvement process to consistently reflect on improving our service - your values, ideas and skills will be valued and included in these processes while you will be supported to build on your confidence in understanding and upholding these standards.
  • Have a high work ethic and time management skills; this role consists of ongoing team work and routines that are required to support the day to day processes running smoothly for the overall wellbeing of all parties at our service, where you will be required to take initiative to complete tasks where needed and in a timely manner (while still upholding standards). As some situations arise that cause disruption to our routine, you will be required to adapt and problem solve at times. You must be willing to remain on track for your study, as this is a requirement for the position, you will be provided with onsite training and opportunity to complete your study on site using our resources during working hours.
  • Have strong communication skills; be able to follow instructions and communicate issues constructively to continue our positive environment. We guide our Educators in building upon their skills of communicating with families and third party services to ensure the consistency between the children's home and school environments. General tasks also include the use of our private Facebook page, answering phone calls, sending / responding to emails, interactions with families and children. You will also be required to be confident in using technology to implement and record our educational program, which you will be supported in learning before then going on to use it independently.

Other general tasks completed by our educators include completing safety checks and maintaining a safe environment, following policies and procedures, interacting / caring / educating for our children in collaboration with families and support services, general cleaning, meal times etc.
