Back to Work program provides a boost for regional Queensland

The Queensland Government has just announced the $100 million Back to Work – Regional Employment Package as part of the 2016-17 state budget.
Effective 1 July 2016, the initiative aims to provide a boost for up to 8,000 job opportunities in regional areas of Queensland including:
- The Outback
- Far North
- Wide Bay
- South West Queensland
The following support will be available to employers and job seekers:
Employers who hire new workers may be eligible for support payments of up to $15,000, including:
- Up to $10,000 to employ a job seeker in a regional area
- An additional $5,000 if your new worker has been unemployed for 12 months or more
To be eligible for support payments, your new employee must commence on or after 1 July 2016 and must be employed by you for at least four weeks before you can apply.

Job seekers looking to retrain or upskill to gain employment will have greater access to training opportunities and support services.
