We are thrilled to announce the recent five-year extension to our collaboration with BHP Billiton. MEGT has been recruiting and supporting apprentices for the global resources company since 2014 and currently has over 50 apprentices working across BHP Billiton sites. The extension will see us continue to provide these services to BHP Billiton until 2021.

Over the past three years, MEGT has been recruiting and managing apprentices across a variety of occupations for BHP Billiton’s Olympic Dam operations. This has not only assisted with meeting industry skill shortages in remote and isolated areas but has also provided potential apprentices with a career pathway into BHP Billiton.

Olympic Dam, a multi-mineral ore body, is the fourth-largest remaining copper deposit and the largest known single deposit of uranium in the world. Apprentices placed at Olympic Dam are employed by MEGT and supported by our onsite personnel. This program provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience and skills within a unique mining environment while working for the world’s largest mining company.

Our collaboration with BHP Billiton allows us to continue to promote employment growth for regional South Australians and to strive for more diversity within our apprentice group, encouraging female apprentices to apply for roles at Olympic Dam. We are proud to continue our relationship with BHP Billiton and look forward to supporting their future operations.
