McDonald’s team L – R: Sasha Zorko, Mel Rigby, Adam Daley, Amanda McEvoy, Kerri Smith (Key Accounts Consultant – MEGT), Linda Munro, Holly Cole, Karina Henning, Kate Jolly.

In the lead up to the Australian Training Awards on 17 November, MEGT is celebrating the achievements of all our employers, apprentices and trainees who have won regional-level awards and who will now compete at state-level over the coming months.

Today we are pleased to announce the winner of the:

Large Employer of the Year Award – Metropolitan Queensland

McDonald’s Australia Limited, QLD

With a 40-year history in training and developing young people and over 100,000 employees across Australia, staff training is considered by McDonald’s to be an investment, not a cost. Training is integrated into every aspect of the organisation’s operations and plays a vital part in driving employee engagement.

As part of their commitment to learning and development, McDonald’s recently launched the Work Inspiration program in partnership with The Smith Family children’s education charity. The program invites Queensland high school students to take part in tailored workshops that aim to give disadvantaged youth the support and confidence they need to successfully transition into employment.

The events have been sponsored by each region’s local McDonald’s licensees who have provided ongoing employment opportunities to some participants, signing them into traineeships through MEGT.

When asked what the regional-level win means for McDonald’s, RTO Manager for QLD/NT Linda Munro replied “this is great recognition for all the hard work and passion our training team have in the development of all the members of our organisation.”

The company will now go on to compete in the Queensland State Training Awards on 9 September, with the aim to win at state-level and progress to the national awards in November.

Congratulations to McDonald’s and all the best at next month’s state awards!
