More opportunities for jobs in Victoria
MEGT Australia is the Vocational Training and Employment Centre (VTEC) provider for Melbourne, Victoria.
MEGT VTEC works in partnership with major Australian Employment Covenant (AEC) employers, GenerationOne and the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
What VTEC is about
The Vocational Training and Employment Centres are designed to place more than 4,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People into employment nationally. The MEGT contract is to place at least 250 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People into employment in the Greater Melbourne region. The VTEC has no age restrictions.
There are other VTECs across the country. MEGT has the contract for Melbourne and is the only VTEC in Victoria.
VTEC aligns pre-employment training to real jobs with the model based on strong collaboration between employers, employment and training service providers and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities.
VTECs are an Australian Government initiative based on the GenerationOne employment model. GenerationOne manages the Australian Employment Covenant, an industry-led initiative that has established more than 60,000 job pledges for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People from Australian companies.
What MEGT will do
We will liaise closely with the AEC employers to fill their vacancies.
We’ll connect up with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People throughout Melbourne in particular (and throughout Victoria) and invite them to apply for vacancies.
We will provide pre-employment training, workplace mentoring and other support to both the employee and employer to ensure each VTEC placement transitions into ongoing employment.
