Australian Apprenticeship Support Network is made up of Apprenticeship Network Providers contracted by the Australian Government. The Apprenticeship Network Providers offer a free service to industry, employers, apprentices and trainees to assist them with the sign-up, administration and management of apprenticeships and traineeships.

MEGT is an appointed Apprenticeship Network Provider acting as your local expert in apprenticeship servicing and support. MEGT provides a free Australia-wide service using locally based MEGT personnel, with local knowledge.

As an Apprenticeship Network Provider MEGT has a guarantee of service:

  • The advice we provide will be accurate and reliable,
  • We will keep up-to-date with detailed knowledge of federal and state requirements,
  • We will be prompt in our response to customer enquiries and needs, and
  • We will actively support and promote the opportunities provided to apprentices through the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network programme

 

MEGT – Your Local Apprenticeship Network Provider

As part of the new Government changes, new services will be delivered, with the level of service to employers and apprentices expanding from one to two levels:

  1. Universal Services

Universal services are those services previously provided to all employers, apprentices and trainees under the Australian Apprenticeships Support Services arrangements, and will continue to be provided, including:

  • Marketing, information and advice,
  • Sign up and assessing eligibility for the Australian Government incentives and personal benefits, and
  • Client Progress contacts and claims processing.

The Australian Apprenticeships Programme provides a range of incentives to assist and encourage employers to take on and retain apprentices and trainees and assist apprentices during their apprenticeship. Payment of incentives is subject to employers and their apprentices and trainees meeting the eligibility criteria.

  1. Targeted Services

These are the new services available to people who have been identified in consultation with MEGT as requiring additional support. The services support employers, apprentices and trainees who need a helping hand to complete their apprenticeship.

The first of these services, referred to as Gateway, will be provided prior to the apprenticeship and remainder during the course of the apprenticeship (In-training support).

They include:

Gateway services are designed to increase the success rate of apprenticeship and traineeship outcomes and be offered to all job seekers and employers in this space.

For employers this means they can achieve a better match of job seeker for their business through preliminary screening of applicants prior to interviewing them. For job seekers, it can assist them in choosing the career and employer which suits them best. Apprenticeship Network Provider location staff will bring it all together in person when possible or on the phone and online for convenience.

Who is Eligible?

All job-seekers and employers are eligible for this FREE service.

In-training support services are designed to help apprentices and trainees get qualified. MEGT has led the way with mentoring programmes and this service is being extended to each state and territory where we are an Apprenticeship Network Provider.

Services include:

  • Provision of tailored services to the employer and/or apprentice identified as needing additional support during the apprenticeship. These services could include mentoring, pastoral care, advice and information on additional training e.g. language, literacy and numeracy
  • Advice and guidance on specialised support options e.g. counselling, and
  • Engagement with State Training Authorities (STAs) regarding workplace issues, dispute resolution or regulatory matters.
