‘competency based’ which means you can complete your training faster if you reach the required skills level
existing skills and prior experience are recognised and course credit granted, potentially reducing formal training time. Available as full-time or part-time, or while you are still at school.
pathways to nationally recognised qualifications and skills which provide the basis for further education and training over the course of your working life
Over 500 traineeship and apprenticeship vocations are available in a range of areas.
Traineeships generally take between twelve to twenty four months to complete and include skills such as Business, Retail, Community Health, Child Care, Financial Services and many more.
Apprenticeships generally last between thirty six to forty eight months and cover trade areas such as Building and Construction, Horticulture, Cooking, the Automotive industry, Engineering, Manufacturing and many more.
Once you’ve organised an employer, you will need to discuss training and employment conditions with them.
Your new boss will make an appointment with MEGT’s Apprenticeship Network Provider, who will visit you and your boss to explain the training and paperwork required.
You and your boss will discuss and sign a Training Contract. MEGT will supply this and help you complete it. A training plan must then be negotiated with your nominated training provider (Registered Training Organisation) who will deliver the off-the-job training component.
After that you are on your way to becoming competent in a range of skills and gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
