50% wage subsidy - there’s never been a better time to access IT talent!
Under the recently announced Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements (BAC) wage subsidy program, the Federal Government will pay 50% of a new or recommencing trainee’s salary for the first year.
Under this scheme, a Microsoft Trainee will only cost between $16k - $28k p.a. for the first year, depending on age and based on standard working hours. Capped at the first 100,000 trainees to be registered nationally, please get in touch soon if you would like to make use of this incentive.
How does the Microsoft Traineeship Program work?
The Microsoft Traineeship Program is designed to support budding IT professionals take the first step in their career. Launched in 2019, the Microsoft Traineeship Program has placed over 140 trainees with 60 Microsoft partner and customer organisations. Building from an initial pilot, the program now operates in QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, SA and WA. Our first trainees are set to graduate at the end of 2020, and we’re on track for a 80%+ completion rate.
The trainee will be employed by leading group training provider, MEGT, who will recruit, screen, employ and support the trainee for the duration of the program, minimising the complexities and risks and allowing you to spend more time developing and nurturing your trainee’s talents. As a host employer, your trainee will be under your care and supervision as they complete their traineeship. Trainees are with your organisation for 4 days a week, studying the new Certificate 4 in IT (ICT40120) at TAFE for one day a week. The duration of a Traineeship is 2 years, though many trainees complete earlier than this.
Blended into the qualification are a range of the latest Microsoft Certifications. In 2021, we are likely to have three learning paths on offer – Microsoft Azure/Cloud Computing, Database Development and Microsoft Dynamics. In addition to the Microsoft Certifications, we include soft skills training, additional technical training and events, mentoring and cultural awareness training into our programs.
How will the financial incentive work through MEGT?
Uniquely, MEGT will make the BAC subsidy even more attractive to the employers participating in the Microsoft Traineeship Program. MEGT is offering to pay organisations the BAC subsidy at the end of each month, giving you access to that money well in advance of the government’s quarterly payments.
Through this approach, MEGT is offering a highly affordable, low-risk, flexible workforce solution and actively support your business, while you continue to build your IT talent.
