Are you looking for a hands-on career in the marine industry, but not sure where to start? Funded by the Queensland Government’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work scheme, the Marine Careers program is ideal for job seekers with a keen interest in all things maritime.

Marine Careers – An Engineering Pathway

In partnership with TAFE Queensland (RTO 0275), Marine Careers offers you the opportunity to complete Nationally Accredited Qualification MEM20413 Engineering Pathways with Marine electives over 10-12 weeks.

You will gain a Certificate II in Engineering Pre-Vocational Preparation – with no out-of-pocket expenses. You will learn in-demand skills for a successful career in the marine industry and gain valuable on-the-job training through a work experience placement – giving you the skills and confidence to enter the workforce.

This qualification starts the 28th September at the TAFE Marine Campus at Coomera.

  • Have an interest in the marine industry on the Gold Coast
  • Be unemployed (or unemployed on Centrelink benefits for at least 6 months)
  • Be 15 years old or over
  • No longer attend school
  • Be an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, Temporary Resident (on a pathway to permanent residency), or from New Zealand

Marine Careers – A Mechanical pathway

As part of the Marine Careers program, you can choose to complete a Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation over 10-12 weeks with no out of pocket expenses.

You will learn in-demand skills for a successful career in the marine industry. This includes inspecting vehicles, equipment and marine craft; welding; and marine retail, service and repair.

During your training, you will gain valuable on-the-job training with qualified professionals, giving you valuable hands-on industry experience.

To be eligible you must:

  • Have an interest in the marine industry on the Gold Coast
  • Be 15 years old or over
  • No longer attend school
  • Be an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, Temporary Resident (on a pathway to permanent residency), or from New Zealand
