Industry Training Hub a win for Shepparton area

18 March, 2021

MEGT (Australia) Ltd has been chosen to deliver a specialist Industry Training Hub in Shepparton and surrounding areas, as part of a program aimed at retaining local skills.

The Shepparton Industry Training Hub is one of ten to be established across Australia as part of the Federal Government’s Delivering Skills for Today and Tomorrow package.

Based in Victoria’s Goulburn Valley region, the Industry Training Hub is a program aimed at addressing youth unemployment while meeting local industry needs.

Local career facilitators work with business and industry groups to identify local skills shortages. Programs are then designed for Year 11 and 12 students to build pathways towards jobs in their local region.

The program is also designed to strengthen the vocational education and training (VET) sector, while creating jobs to keep local youth in or near their home towns.

Local career facilitators understand the employment challenges which businesses and job seekers face. MEGT CEO Bridie Gildea believes an ‘on-the-ground’ presence is crucial to the success of the program, which is why MEGT career facilitator Kristen Elliott was the ideal candidate for the role.

Kristen will connect local schools and businesses to help students in the region find meaningful employment close to home.
