Chevron is creating new opportunities for the next generation of energy apprentices and trainees across two of its Western Australian natural gas projects.
Partnering with MEGT, Chevron is looking for a new generation of apprentices and trainees to work on major energy projects across the Pilbara region in Western Australia.
The Chevron Apprentice and Trainee program offers on-the-job training in paid employment to give apprentices and trainees the opportunity of a long-term career in the energy industry.

The program offers a range of apprenticeships and traineeships.
Industrial Electrical Instrumentation Apprenticeship
As an Industrial Electrical Instrumentation Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience alongside qualified Chevron tradespeople, conducting field fault analysis and working on a range of pneumatic, electronic and digital equipment such as valves, transmitters, electric motors and gas turbines. You will be working on either the Gorgon or Wheatstone gas project.
This is a four year apprenticeship, consisting of on-the-job training and classroom learning at ACEPT (South Metropolitan TAFE) over a two week on/two week off roster.
Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Fitter) Apprenticeship
As a Maintenance Technician (Mechanical Fitter) Apprentice, you will gain experience alongside qualified Chevron tradespeople to maintain the plant and repair/replace valves, pumps, and compressors.
You will be working on one of two major Chevron gas projects at either Gorgon or Wheatstone.
This is a four year apprenticeship, consisting of on-the-job training and classroom learning at Rockingham TAFE over a two week on/two week off roster.
Production Operator Traineeship
As a Production Operator Trainee, you will learn how to monitor processes and equipment to ensure high quality production across Chevron projects. You will gain hands-on experience alongside qualified production technicians at Chevron’s Major Hazard Facility.
You will be working on one of Chevron’s major gas projects at either Gorgon or Wheatstone.
This is a two year traineeship, consisting of on-the-job training and classroom learning at ACEPT (South Metropolitan TAFE) over a two weeks on/two weeks off/two weeks on/four weeks off roster.
How it works
Apprentices and trainees will be employed through MEGT’s Group Training program, making MEGT your legal employer. Chevron will be your Host Employer and responsible for your day-to-day work, training and development.
As an MEGT apprentice or trainee hosted by Chevron, you will gain:

• A nationally recognised qualification in your chosen field
