When Jessie Purton discovered automotive spray painting, she knew she had found her vocation. Unable to find a suitable role in Devonport, she moved to Hobart to search for an apprenticeship. Through sheer persistence and determination, Jessie got her foot in the door when she secured a trade assistant position with Abeta Bodyworks in Hobart.

Shortly after Jessie commenced, Abeta decided to add an apprentice spray painter to their team and chose to use MEGT’s recruitment team to find the perfect fit for the role. Jessie leapt at the opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship and was successful in getting the position.

Four months after starting with Abeta, Jessie has now started her Certificate III in Automotive Refinishing and has already attended specialist industry training with her colleagues. She has impressed TasTAFE teacher Colin Ogden, with her “eye for detail” and Abeta co-owner Stephanee Cannell says Jessie is well accepted as part of the team.

Following Jessie’s success, Abeta have now chosen to use MEGT to recruit for an apprentice panel beater to join their team.

Well done Jessie and the MEGT Hobart team!
