Mossman Gorge

A new training centre next to Mossman Gorge Centre – an Indigenous eco-tourism business, provides training programs to prepare Indigenous Australians for careers in tourism and hospitality careers.

As part of MEGT’s well-established commitment to the employment and training of Indigenous Australians, MEGT Institute has established a state-of-the-art new campus at Mossman Gorge, near Cairns, in Far North Queensland.

Our new campus provides vocational education and training for the Cape York region generally and, specifically, for the Mossman Gorge Centre an Indigenous eco-tourism development.

The Centre is an important entryway for visitors to experience in ecologically-responsible ways the natural beauties of ancient Mossman Gorge and the World Heritage listed Daintree tropical rainforest.

MEGT Institute, part of MEGT’s Education Group, prepares Indigenous Australians for careers in tourism, hospitality and other fields. We provide vocational training courses which lead to nationally recognised qualifications, including Certificate II in Hospitality and Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery). Trainees gain hands-on experience in the Mossman Gorge Centre.

Additionally, we provide short, pre-employment courses in job skills, including Computer Literacy, Responsible Service of Alcohol (needed to work in hospitality) and First Aid.

Our dedicated, expert trainers (many are Indigenous) equip students and trainees with practical, relevant job know-how and skills that can be immediately applied in the workplace.

We also help students and trainees with advice and assistance in gaining ongoing employment when they complete their training.

This modern, well equipped training centre offers nationally recognised qualifications in:

          Hospitality
          Retail

    Office Administration
          Tourism

    Horticulture
          Computer operations

and short courses from half a day to one week in:

      Barista
      Work Health and Safety

Cultural Awareness

Workplace Preparation.

Students and trainees are provided with support from dedicated staff to help them achieve their goals and
receive assistance in gaining ongoing employment at the completion of training.

Practical and relevant knowledge from the training can be immediately applied in the workplace. For more information, please see MEGT Institute’s Mossman Gorge page.
