Merriman Shearing School’s pre employment program is supported by MEGT Australia, has successfully provided skills and jobs for 13
shearing apprentices.

Merriman Station is an Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) – purchased property near Brewarrina in north west NSW. The station is now the
venue of an innovative shearing school that prepares young Indigenous people to work in the wool industry.

86% of the jobseekers successfully completed a Certificate II in Agriculture and this was celebrated with a Graduation on 10Th July 2014.

In an outstanding achievement, MEGT’s Indigenous Apprenticeship and Traineeship Network (IATN) in partnership with the Bateman Shearing Team, has been able to secure employment for all 13 graduates.

The new Shearing School is underway, with the Pre Employment Program having commenced on 25/8/14 and this will be followed by the three month
