Congratulations Vikings Group – ACT Medium Employer of the Year!

Congratulations to the Vikings Group for taking out the ACT Medium Employer of the Year award at the ACT Training Awards, held on Thursday 31 August in Canberra.
The Tuggeranong Valley Rugby Union and Sports Club Limited (Vikings Group) is a not-for-profit community-based organisation whose purpose is to provide infrastructure and services for the Canberra community.
Since opening its Erindale facility in 1979, the Vikings Group has expanded into four licensed premises across Canberra’s south, with several first-class sporting facilities, a membership of over 40,000, and more than 200 casual, part-time and full-time staff.
The Vikings Group provides substantial financial assistance to the local community, as well as employment opportunities, financial donations, in-kind contributions and scholarships.
Vikings Group’s focus on training ensures its staff are fully equipped to be able to do their job to their fullest potential, to provide first choice options in service, hospitality and facilities for members and guests.

All Vikings employees have access to vocational training, which ranges from Responsible Service of Alcohol through to Diploma level qualifications.
Over the last two years, MEGT has signed up a total of 41 apprentices with the Vikings Group, in Certificate III and IV in Hospitality (delivered by Access Recognised Training) and Certificate III in Sports Turf Management.
