You will be working with a well-established Cairns based ship repair and maintenance company servicing and repairing large marine vessels.

You will complete a Certificate III Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Surface Finishing) while gaining valuable on the job training working with highly skilled tradesmen.

Objectives of the role:

Assisting in the repair and/or maintenance of marine vessels.

Assisting in duties such as surface grinding, de-scaling, de-burring, abrasive blasting, sand blasting, polishing and/or painting of marine vessels.

Assisting in the application of metal coatings to other metals or similar substances

Ensuring that all plant , tools and equipment are securely kept and properly maintained

Ensuring that all work and adjacent areas are neat and tidy

Adhering to all safety and environmental requirements

All other duties as determined by the supervisor.

Our ideal applicant will be motivated, enthusiastic and keen to learn with a genuine desire to develop a career in the Engineering field.

You should also have:

Strong English / Maths skills

Great communication skills

Able to work in a team environment

Drivers licence with own car

Australian citizenship or permanent residency

Completion of a pre-vocational course in engineering or similar and/or some work experience although not essential will be well regarded.
