MEGT Group Training
Code of Conduct
This code of conduct is based on the principles of truth, honesty, integrity, professionalism, collaboration and commitment to the public good and relates to MEGT Group Training and all staff of MEGT Group Training (including all employees, contractors, managers and Board members).
MEGT will establish policies, pursue objectives and fulfil obligations in a manner consistent with this code.
Standards
This code sets the standard for MEGT to maintain the utmost ethical standards and remain responsive to the training, education and employment of skilled apprentices and trainees for the Australian Community.
MEGT (Australia) Ltd
MEGT will:
- at all times act with utmost truth, honesty and integrity
- at all times conduct ourselves in an ethical business manner
- at all times act professionally in accordance with good management practice
- strive to promote, implement and monitor the training, education and employment of skilled apprentices and trainees for industry and the community using the group training model
- observe the conduct and management practices contained in this code
- work with other organisations in a spirit of mutual support and co-operation
- regularly review this Code of Conduct.
The Manager
All managers have professional responsibilities and will:
- demonstrate integrity and compassion and avoid discriminatory practices
- have regard for professional reputation and the business of others
- not use authority or office for personal gain
- respect the confidentiality of information which comes to them in the course of their duty
- balance the interests of MEGT with their own responsibilities and commitments
- engage in continued learning to improve managerial competence and pursue new ideas and advances in technology
- ensure that all contracts and terms of business are clear, concise and honoured, unless terminated or modified by mutual consent
- ensure that communications are inclusive, informative, and accurate, respecting the moral standards and the dignity of the individual
- exclude all corrupt practices
- ensure, to the best of our ability that all employees are provided with a safe and healthy working environment
- ensure the effective and economic management of all available resources
- create an equitable, friendly, safe, healthy and satisfying work environment
- provide professional development opportunities for all staff
- ensure that this Code of Conduct, the policies and procedures of MEGT and all relevant laws and legislation are complied with by all staff at all times
- provide fair and equitable treatment and remuneration for employees.
The Manager and the community
Managers will recognise the interests of the community by:
- endeavouring to conserve the environment
- improving the quality of life within the company’s sphere of influence
- encouraging the community to embrace and support the concept of group training
- seeking opportunities to provide career options for disadvantaged people
- supporting the principles of Equal Opportunity for staff and the community.
All staff
All members of the staff of MEGT will abide and comply with the principles of this Code of Conduct as follows:
- to act in the best interests of MEGT and to value MEGT’s reputation
- to undertake their duties with due care, diligence and responsibility
- to deal fairly and honestly with all apprentices, trainees, host employers, fellow staff members, competitors and other third parties
- to behave in a manner that takes into account our impact on the community and the environment in both the short term and long run
- use the resources and equipment of MEGT appropriately and for proper purposes
- to act with honesty and integrity
- immediately report any suspicions of any improper conduct or behaviour by others (including colleagues or clients)
- ensure all dealings with apprentices, trainees and host employers are properly recorded and transparent
- to treat others with respect and dignity;
- to make employment decisions based on merit and not on attributes that do not relate to performance or otherwise are irrelevant
- to not act inappropriately or discriminate, bully or harass others
- to contribute to and maintain a safe and healthy working environment
- to identify conflicts of interest and manage such conflicts responsibly and fairly
- to respect and maintain privacy and confidentiality
- to not make or receive improper payments, benefits or gains
- to comply with this code, the policies and procedures of MEGT and all relevant laws and legislation
- to immediately report any breaches of this code, policies and procedures of MEGT and relevant laws and legislation.
Conflict of Interest
Across our Business Functions
MEGT will be vigilant in managing any conflicts of interest which may arise. In particular it will:
- allow the Apprentice/Trainee and Host Employer to participate in the selection of the Registered Training Organisation, regardless of whether the qualification to be completed is able to be delivered by MEGT’s RTO
- ensure that the Training and Field Officer functions are clearly described and delineated
- comply with its contractual obligations in terms of the physical separation of the AAC business from the GTO business, and any referrals from the AAC to the GTO.
Within our GTO
MEGT will ensure that the staff have been inducted in the scope of this policy. In particular it will manage frequently occurring conflicts of interest and will:
- ensure that a fair selection process is implemented for all Apprentices/Trainees employed by the GTO
- prevent Staff from managing or paying relatives, friends or other associates
- ensure that the welfare of the Apprentice/Trainee is always kept as the paramount consideration and that potential Host Employers are assessed as being able to provide duties consistent with the demonstrated competencies in the on the job training
- ensure that Staff do not engage with a Host Employer in which it has any material ownership, controlling interest or personal relationship.
