Statement of Commitment

MEGT has been involved in the training and employment of Indigenous Australians through our Group Training division for many years, and in facilitating the direct employment of over 6,700 Indigenous Australians as Apprentices and Trainees through our Australian Apprenticeships Centre.

MEGT has established a dedicated Indigenous Group Training operation, the Indigenous Apprenticeship and Traineeship Network (IATN), which will also be a source to consolidate all MEGT activities relevant to Indigenous Australians under the one framework. MEGT will continue to work towards increasing opportunities for sustainable and ongoing employment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, including yet not limited to; within MEGT as a whole, and Apprenticeships and Traineeships.

MEGT is highly committed to the development of an organisational Reconciliation Action Plan and will progress through this process with consultations involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, Reconciliation Australia, the wider Australian community and MEGT staff across all levels of the organisation, as well as external Indigenous stakeholders.
